Upgrade your recessed light. The Sylvania LED Recessed Downlight Kit provides warm, comfortable light, similar to an incandescent bulb, and provides more directional light, improving visibility and illumination in the room. The 11-watt Sylvania LED light delivers the same amount of light as a 60-watt incandescent light. This bulb is also damp location rated, making it a perfect solution for bathroom lighting needs.
Installing the Sylvania LED Recessed Lighting Kit is as easy as screwing in a light bulb. It only takes about 2 minutes. First, make sure the power is turned off by disconnecting the power at the fuse or circuit breaker.
Then make sure the existing lighting housing is compatible with the Sylvania LED Lighting Kit. Remove the existing trim and light bulb from the housing. Then measure the diameter and recessed housing depth. This should be, at a minimum 5 3/4″ wide, and at a maximum 6 1/2″ wide and deep.
If you have a free hanging socket in your recessed housing, you are ready to go. In some cases, it might be necessary to remove the socket mounting plate for adequate clearance. To do this, unscrew the screws in the socket bracket, remove the existing socket mounting plate and remove the socket from the plate. Now that the socket is hanging free, we are ready for the next step.
Take the medium socket adapter that comes with your kit, and screw it into the recessed housing. Plug the other end of the connecter into the Sylvania LED Lighting Kit. Squeeze the torsion springs together and push them into the torsion spring brackets inside the recessed housing. Carefully root wires into the fixture and push the recess kit up flush to the ceiling surface. Turn your power back on and enjoy this beautiful light.
